Die cutting

Die-cutting is a great way to give your printed material a unique and distinguished look. A process that uses a steel rule die to cut an object or shape out of a sheet of paper, die cutting can deliver results that help you stand out from the crowd. This process is frequently used to produce doorhangers, pocket folders and business cards, but the possibilities for customization are virtually endless.

It is relatively rare for a printer to have in-house die-cutting capabilities, but at Adams, we do all of our die-cutting right here. Embossing

Embossing is an artistic technique which creates a three dimensional image or design on a material … in this case usually paper or cardboard. By pushing the surface forward using a die, embossing creates an image that is raised to the touch. There are different types of embossing available: A blind emboss is one where the color of the embossed image is the same as the color of the surface, with no other printing. Multi-level embossing features multiple levels having different depths, giving the embossed image texture and added relief. And a printed emboss registers with a printed or foiled image.

UV Coating

UV (Ultraviolet) coating is a clear, high-gloss coating applied to printed materials, then instantly cured (dried) by a flash of UV light. The coating can be “flooded” onto the overall sheet … or “spot” applied to a specific area to make printed or embossed elements stand out even more. 

A shiny UV coating looks great, but it is also adds a layer of protection … just the thing to help ensure that postcards or flyers stand up to the punishment of the mailing process. Best of all, the UV process doesn’t involve the traditional solvent-based chemicals, making it a more environmentally friendly coating procedure.
